Steele Away Home – Canine Foster and Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3) foster based canine rescue located in Newport, TN.  Each of our rescue dogs are cared for by a loving foster family as we help them on their journey to a forever home.  In addition to saving as many lives as we possibly can, we also hope to bring awareness to the need to have pets spayed and neutered to stop the cycle of the homeless animals.

Steele Away Home – Canine Foster and Rescue has been established in part to recognize and honor the work of Jenifer Parry Steele who has worked tirelessly since 2003 to save thousands of animals from Newport and Cocke County.  We, the fosters and volunteers, are proud to be part of this amazing group working to save lives!  We welcome all who will join us.

“Everyone wants a Steele dog!”

Would you care to make a donation to help us continue saving lives?

Thank You!

Dear Julie & Benny,

We’re excited to write you about the last 9 months of our life with “Jasper”.  Jasper came from your home to ours without spending more than a few nights at 11th Hour Rescue in NJ.  His Petfinder photo captured our attention and that was the start of our lives together.

We realized going into the adoption that Jasper needed a special home in which to flourish. Although he is the polar-opposite of our last dog, we own a local dog training school and knew we could offer him plenty of opportunities to grow and thrive. He is an only dog and we have no children so he gets 100% of our love and affection. (more…)

We have been working with Jen for a few years and this is very rewarding work. We have to keep the big picture, that is how I manage to let the critters go. You won’t believe how good you will feel when you see your foster adopted.

Julie L.
